Before you even design a shirt, there are questions you should ask. MKE Screen & Stitch has answers to some of the most commonly asked questions in regards to garment screen printing, embroidery, and related topics.
Embroidery is the art of adding designs and patterns to clothes using needle and thread. Although modern embroidery methods are a little more powerful than a single needle, the detail is still as fine as if hand-stitched. MKE Screen & Stitch uses the highest thread count possible for better looking designs and a higher quality finish.
Screen printing is a lot like it sounds. Images are printed onto clothing or promotional items using a screen. Specifically, a design is first “burned” onto various screens to create the desired patterns. These screens are sorted by color ink (one color per screen). Ink is applied through the screen to get the desired design printed onto garments and promotional items. At MKE Screen & Stitch, we can make everything from logos to company slogans or team names using screen printing on a variety of garments.
At MKE Screen & Stitch, we use Tajima embroidery machines for a higher thread count on your garments, giving you better quality details and longer lasting results. Other embroidery shops go quiet when you ask about their thread count, a bad sign. We only use the highest thread count for our embroidery projects.
Almost anything! We can take a photo and convert it into a template for either embroidery or screen printing. Our in-house designers can also assist you in designing a specific logo or image for your order. Otherwise, your own photos, computer-generated logos, and designs are acceptable for screen printing and embroidery. If you do have an image which cannot be converted into a template, we will let you know and work with you to find a solution.
Digitizing is the process of taking a physical image or logo and making it into stitches for embroidery. MKE Screen & Stitch can also digitize images for screen printing. After an image has been digitized, it is easy for our embroidery and screen printing machines to read the image and transfer it to clothing or promotional items.
Our goal is two weeks from concept to cloth. Once we have a finalized design or image from you, we can finish almost all orders within this two week window. If you have an exceptionally large or complicated bulk order which cannot be finished during this time, we will give you our best estimate for completion and keep you updated and informed on progress to meet your deadline. The sooner you approve a design, the sooner we can get started making your garments look great.
Have you ever ordered something online and received it late? Or maybe the tracking number you were provided with wasn’t quite accurate. Maybe the product never showed up at all and you still had to pay additional shipping. Whatever the case, online orders can be risky when your reputation is on the line. What you see on the Internet may not be an accurate representation of the products you will receive. Shirt sizes may be wrong, colors may be off, or even spelling errors on logos have been known to occur. With MKE Screen & Stitch, we meet you face to face to get a complete understanding on the job you need done.
Most fabrics can be both printed and embroidered on. MKE Screen & Stitch even offers shirts and clothing you can pick from rather than buying your garments somewhere else, making us your one stop shop! Light fabrics can be printed on while heavy fabrics can still be embroidered depending on the calibration of our machines. We will even help recommend whether or not your materials are more suitable for printing or embroidery.
While digital printing means most inks colors can be created for your order, embroidery is a different story. Since the color depends on manufactured thread, there are some digital colors which cannot be translated to embroidery designs. If you have a color which does not exactly match an existing thread, we will communicate to you right away the issue so we can reach a resolution, whether it means selecting a different color or having our in-house designers create a new color palate to suit your needs.
Just ask! The worldwide sourcing at MKE Screen & Stitch means we can provide just about any promotional item you can imagine, from canvas bags and hats to bottle openers and pens. Select something to represent your company or suitable for a specific tradeshow.
MKE Screen & Stitch is a family-run, locally owned screen print and embroidery shop ready to serve Southeastern Wisconsin. From your church choir to a collegiate intermural team, we will make your outfits great. Business conferences, tradeshows, or corporate team building exercises will be more special when everyone has matching garments with your company logo on them. We don’t care if you have a team of ten or a company of one hundred, we will treat your order with the respect and priority you need.
Once your screen printed apparel is finished, we can recommend the best way to care for your particular garment to ensure the colors and pattern lasts for a long time. Wash with cold water to avoid shrinking and avoid strong detergent or bleach to preserve the design. Otherwise, the washing cycle is mostly the same as regular laundry! When it comes to drying, it is always better to avoid overheating your clothes, regardless of screen printing.
Though there are some special considerations to be taken into account with embroidered clothing, washing and preserving your apparel is easy. Embroidered garments can be laundered at home or by a professional dry cleaner such as Martinizing Dry Cleaners. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is to always iron on the reverse of embroidered fabrics to avoid damaging the design with heat.
Embroidery has come a long way since it was once done by hand. Thanks to improvements in technology, embroidery machines like the ones MKE Screen & Stitch use are less likely to make mistakes than ever before. This expedites jobs and gives you a faster turnaround time.
While there are many at-home screen printing kits, one of the major downsides is the inexperience of the user. You might not realize how the finished design will look on a completed garment or how the colors will look together until it is too late. Getting the angle wrong, pushing too hard, and misaligning the screens can all ruin your print.
Fortunately, MKE Screen & Stitch is here to help you get great looking outfits and promotional items with professional screen printing services. With our advanced techniques and expertise, we are able to avoid the common mistakes to provide consistently great looking results.
